Storyline:

“Hatya” revolves around the murder of a professional model, Laila (Meenakshi Chaudhary), in her locked flat. Sandhya Mohan Raj (Ritika Singh), an IPS officer, seeks the assistance of private detective Vinayak (Vijay Antony) to solve the perplexing case.

As they investigate, the suspects include Babloo, who claims to be Laila’s manager, Satish, Laila’s boyfriend, renowned photographer Arjun Vasudevan, and Aditya Kowshik, an agent working at a modeling company. The film follows Sandhya and Vinayak’s pursuit to uncover the truth behind Laila’s murder.

Review:

“Hatya” stands out with its captivating production design and cinematography, creating a distinct world for its crime thriller narrative. Vijay Antony’s portrayal of the private detective, Vinayak, is subtle and impactful, enhancing the film’s overall appeal. The investigative sequences, particularly those implicating the suspects, are well-executed and engaging. Meenakshi Chaudhary delivers a commendable performance, bringing a poetic touch to her character. Ritika Singh provides strong support to Vijay Antony, further elevating the film’s chemistry between the lead actors.

However, “Hatya” suffers from slow pacing, which becomes tiresome as the film progresses. The initial time spent on character introductions and the diversion into family drama in the second half hinder the narrative’s flow. Additionally, the underutilization of talented actors like Murali Sharma and Radhika Sarathkumar in small roles is disappointing.

Filming:

The film’s standout aspect is its amazing production design, which brings a fresh perspective to the crime thriller genre. Vijay Antony’s nuanced performance and the captivating investigative sequences add depth to the narrative.

Verdict:

“Hatya” offers a unique crime thriller experience with its distinctive production design and intriguing investigation. Vijay Antony’s performance holds the film together, but the slow pacing and diversion into family drama dilute its impact. While it remains engaging in parts, “Hatya” falls short of being a riveting crime thriller. If you enjoy Vijay Antony’s acting and are open to a slower-paced narrative, “Hatya” might be worth a watch.
