Upadhyaksha (lit. ‘Vice President’) is a forthcoming Kannada language comedy-drama, set to bring laughter and drama to screens. Directed by Anil Kumar and produced by Smitha Umapathy, this film is a sequel to the 2014 hit Adyaksha.

Starring the talented Chikkanna in his first lead role, the cast also includes Malaika Vasupal, P. Ravishankar, Sadhu Kokila, Veena Sundar, and Dharmanna Kadur. The film promises to be a laughter-filled journey with a touch of drama.

The story revolves around a villager named Narayana, who holds the position of Vice President in the “Chi-Thu” sangha. Despite opportunities for promotion, Narayana’s deep affection for the current president keeps him in his role. The plot takes an interesting turn as Narayana faces off against Shiva Rudregowda, the local goon, in pursuit of winning the heart of his beloved Anjali. The narrative unfolds in Gejjepura village in Mandya district, taking the audience on a delightful journey to places like Munnar and Darjeeling.

The film is slated for a theatrical release on 26 January 2024, coinciding with Indian Republic Day, promising a perfect blend of entertainment and celebration.

As Narayana, Chikkanna leads the pack, supported by a talented ensemble cast. The film also features a special cameo appearance by Sharan, adding an extra layer of excitement for the audience.

The journey of Upadhyaksha began with principal photography in Mandya in July 2022, followed by extensive shoots in Mysore. Initially scheduled for a February 2023 release, the film was later rescheduled to January 2024.

The film’s marketing got a boost with the release of its first look and trailer by none other than actor Shivarajkumar. The music, composed by Arjun Janya, adds to the film’s charm. The first single, “Nanage Neenu,” was released in November 2023, giving audiences a taste of the musical delights awaiting them.

Get ready for a rollercoaster of laughter, drama, and entertainment as Upadhyaksha promises to be a delightful addition to the Kannada film landscape in 2024.
